FAQ

The TOEFL 2026 is a fully redesigned exam launched January 21, 2026. The format, task types, scoring, and duration all changed — only the name and the four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing) stayed the same. The Reading and Listening sections are now adaptive. Our TOEFL 2026 mock tests match the new structure exactly.

The TOEFL 2026 uses a 1–6 band scale instead of the old 0–120 score. It replaces the 0–120 scale with half-point increments aligned to the CEFR, and both scores are reported during a two-year transition starting January 2026. Our practice tests report the same band so your target is clear.

The new TOEFL 2026 takes about 90 minutes. Total test time dropped from 116 minutes to roughly 90, thanks to shorter stimuli and redesigned section formats. Because Reading and Listening are adaptive, exact length varies slightly by performance. Our timed TOEFL mock tests match the new section windows so you build exam-day pacing.

The TOEFL 2026 Reading and Listening sections are multi-stage adaptive. They adapt based on how you perform on each section, not each question — do well on one section and the next gets harder. This measures your true level faster. Our adaptive mock tests let you practice this exact structure before test day.

Yes, old TOEFL scores are still accepted during the transition. From 2026 to 2028, score reports show both the 0–120 and 1–6 scales, giving schools time to compare before the 1–6 band becomes the only standard. Confirm your university's requirement, then practice with our TOEFL 2026 mock tests to reach it.

The MyBest score (also called a superscore) combines your highest section scores from all valid TOEFL tests in the last two years into one report. Each section's best result is pulled across test dates and appears automatically on the same report as your single-test scores. It can help you hit a target without retaking every section.

Not all of them. MyBest scores appear automatically on your report, but some programs require scores from a single test sitting, so always check each university's admissions page before relying on MyBest to meet a threshold. When accepted, MyBest is a major advantage for retakers.

MyBest combines your highest band score for each section across valid tests. If a score report is based on the earlier 0–120 scale, MyBest scores include only results reported on that 0–120 scale — so old-format and new-format results are kept on their own scales during the transition.

Find your old 0–120 total in the official ETS table and read across to your band (e.g. 95+ = Band 5.0, 72+ = Band 4.0). A rough shortcut is dividing by 20, but use the ETS table for accuracy, since the official cutoffs aren't evenly spaced.

On the official ETS scale, a total score of 114 or above equals Band 6, 107+ equals Band 5.5, 95+ equals Band 5, 86+ equals Band 4.5, 72+ equals Band 4, 58+ equals Band 3.5, 44+ equals Band 3, 34+ equals Band 2.5, 24+ equals Band 2, 12+ equals Band 1.5, and anything below that falls to Band 1.

It keeps them separate by report type. If your report is on the new 1–6 scale, MyBest converts older 0–120 results to the 1–6 scale; if your report is on the old 0–120 scale, MyBest only includes scores from that prior scale.

CELPIP scores each of the four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking — on a 1 to 12 scale, with no overall total. Each section is scored independently, so you could earn 10 in Listening and 7 in Writing. The scores map directly to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels.

It depends on your program. CLB 7 (CELPIP 7) in all four skills meets the minimum for Express Entry, but competitive profiles that receive invitations often have CLB 9 or higher. For citizenship, CLB 4 is typically required. Always confirm the exact requirement for your pathway.

CELPIP results are fast. Scores are available online through your CELPIP account in 2–4 business days after your test date. With Express Rating, you can get them in 1–2 business days for an extra fee. This quick turnaround is a key reason many applicants choose CELPIP.

CELPIP scores are valid for two years from the date your score report is issued. For IRCC immigration applications, your scores must still be within that two-year window on your filing deadline, so always check the validity date against your application timeline before submitting.

The CELPIP-General test is 100% computer-based and takes about three hours in one sitting. It covers all four skills — Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking — including Speaking recorded via headset and microphone. Our full-length CELPIP mock tests match this exact format and timing.

CELPIP-General tests all four skills and is used for immigration, PR, and Express Entry. CELPIP-General LS covers only Listening and Speaking and is used for Canadian citizenship. Most test-takers need CELPIP-General. Confirm which version your application requires before booking.

There's no limit on CELPIP retakes. You can book another test as soon as slots are available, though you pay the full fee each time. Many test-takers retake once or twice to raise their CLB level in weaker sections — which targeted mock test practice helps you avoid.

Both are accepted by IRCC, but CELPIP is fully Canadian, computer-based, and converts directly to CLB levels with no conversion chart. It was developed in Canada and is one of the fastest English tests accepted for Express Entry and PR. Choose based on your comfort with the format.

Yes. The CELPIP-General test is accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for all economic PR programs — including Express Entry (FSWP, CEC, FSTP) and most Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). There's no separate "CELPIP PR" stream; CELPIP is simply the language evidence these existing pathways require.

You need CLB 4 or higher in Speaking and Listening for citizenship. Language testing is required for applicants aged 18 to 54, and both CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS are accepted. If you only need citizenship, the shorter CELPIP-General LS is enough.
